Update! The video’s up, and there’s a link at the end of the post.
So I’m sitting on my couch this morning still in my yoga pants and tank, when my phone rings. Now, I’m running a portrait special on Savvy Avenue, so I think maybe someone’s calling with questions about the promotion, so despite the fact that I haven’t actually eaten anything and am still sipping yesterday’s reheated coffee cause I haven’t even bothered to make new brew yet, I answer the phone.
“Hello, this is Anna Howard” trying to sound alert.
“Hi Anna, this is Steve from Channel 5 News, we want to interview you about your business and your Savvy Avenue promotion today”
“Okay,” I stutter confidently, “when were you thinking?”
“About an hour.”
“Um, sure, why not, promise me you won’t shoot my kitchen and we can make this work, okay?”
He promises, I get off the phone, and scream “Aaaahhhhhhh.”
Wonderful Husband dashes out the door to mow the grass, and manages to speed mow our not-so-tiny yard in about 45 minutes, champion speed mower that he is, while I throw myself in the shower and speed shower.
Calmer, I get out and dress, thankful that my go-to black top is clean and hanging in my closet, while mentally wishing I hadn’t delayed scheduling an eyebrow wax, but you know, all you can do is all you can do.
Of course my lip gloss is nowhere to be found, but that’s what happens when you only wear the stuff 3 times a year whether you need it or not, so i settled for some lip liner and the mostly natural look.
And then I ran down to load and start the dishwasher and hide everything else in the sink, emergency vacuum the first floor, and pull myself together to be calm, cool and… what’s the third one? oh yeah, collected, mmm, sure…
(Have I mentioned I don’t like video cameras?)
(Actually, the camera’s are fine, I don’t like watching myself on video, though when you have a camera pointed at me the second is inevitable, so it makes me dislike the camera too).
Here’s camera guy giving me the “I became a camera guy so I didn’t have to be in front of the camera” oops, but it’s dangerous to interview photographers, I tell you, dangerous.
And here he is workin’ the camera magic while I tell myself “there is no camera, there is no camera”
Then he made Steve, the guy interviewing me be my model so he could get an idea of how I shoot, so I have a gazillon pictures of Steve at high noon (not the best time to shoot people, btw, too bright, and contrast-y, and bright, and did I mention, bright?
and a gazillion completely useless pics of greenery like this. (though my dogwood tree is rather pretty, and one of my favorite features of our property…)
But it was fun and it looks like I’m going to be on Channel 5 probably during the 6 o’clock news tonight! ahhhhh!
